Follow up on HRZ (7/25/06)

On 6/8/06 I wrote.
HRZ - Horizon Lines Inc. a shipping company is new to Wall Street but a well established shipper. It has a good balance sheet and pays a respectable beginning dividend which I expect to grow with time. Buy it at $14.50 or better.

How to play this stock.
Each person must develope their own style of investing or trading.
An investor is a person who buys a great company and holds on throough bulls and bears - Warren Buffet.
This stock may or may not become a great stock like a P & G or Coke etc. so I play it like a trade with value.
An investing trader will put stops on the investment to protect their capital. They will be stopped out on a few opportunities this way but will sleep better. It is hard to get back into a stock after you were stopped out.
In the beginning once I see a chart pattern and a profit of 10% or more I like to put in a stop to break even.
So I am going to put a stop at 14.60 to breakeven with commissions.
Happy Investing.

Continued

I would like to update the investing strategy for HRZ.
Even though I feel that a long term sideways to bear market is in effect there are good times in a major bear. Therefore to protect myself from losing money first, then losing a small profit second, and then losing a large profit third I will walk you through how I play this situation.
On 7/6/06 I recommended to put a stop at 14.60(first step don't lose money). HRZ tried to breakdown but didn't get lower than 15.55. Now You can put a stop at 15.50 and make $1.00 on your investment,if it is hit, or play for a longer term trade to stay in the game longer and put a $15.00 stop. If the market goes up we move the stop up. If it goes down we will be stopped out with a guaranteed profit of .5 to 1.00, depending.
Happy investing.
